Yesterday Once More/ Carpenters Original Master karaoke
the only karaoke CD released by Carpenters

I have had received many questions regarding this Karaoke CD. Let me answer your questions.

What is Karaoke?
"Karaoke" is originally a Japanese word which became an English term. "Kara" meaning empty, "Oke" stands for "Orchestra/Orchestration". It means orchestration with no lead vocals. Thus, backup tracks for singers.

Is this an official Carpenters release?
Yes, this release is fully approved. In fact, Richard produced it. Basically all the tracks on this album are regular Carpenters music minus Karen's lead vocal. You will hear Karen and Richard singing back up vocals and you can be the lead singer, a true step up from a shower singer!!

What is the track listing?
15 songs in total:YESTERDAY ONCE MORE / SUPERSTAR / RAINY DAYS
AND MONDAYS / TOP OF THE WORLD / THIS MASQUERADE / I WON'T LAST A DAY WITHOUT YOU /FOR ALL WE KNOW / JAMBALAYA(On The Bayou) / (They Long To Be)CLOSE TO YOU / HURTING EACH OTHER /PLEASE MR.POSTMAN / BLESS THE BEASTS AND CHILDREN / GOODBYE TO LOVE / I NEED TO BE IN LOVE / WE'VE ONLY JUST BEGUN

How can I get a copy?
I have been helping fans living outside Japan getting this disk. However, as of May 2002 this title is discontinued. It may be re-released when Richard releases his new Christmas album in 2004. Release of Original Master Karaoke in Japn has nothing to do with Ricahrd's decision. Universal Music International in Japan does.

Try and spot it on eBay. They are sold around $100 if sealed. About $30 and up if not sealed. There are two versions. Both version looks identical as they share the same cover artwork. Difference is original release was a 2CD set: one disk contains karen's lead vocal, and another disk contained Karaoke. Both disks share the same track list. Later they just put out Karaoke only, thus becams a single disk release.

Is it going to be released in the U.S.?
It is very unlikely. This album was originally released over 10 years ago in Japan. There has never been any talk of releasing it in the U.S. which leads me to believe there will never be..............

I bought "Carpenters Music Bioography/Music Video Karaooke". Isn't that an official release?
Nop!! When I first saw it, I thought it was an official release but not! Richard was really unhappy when he found out somebody put that out in Asia. I believe that is made in Hong Kong. Richard has never approved such release, and the quality of the product, especially its Karaoke, is not par Richard's standard at all. He was to make them remove it from the market.
