unless you are happy with it.

Here's how you can tell if "The Karen Carpenter Story" on VHS is an authentic or a fake. I am only speaking about Japanese release. It does not apply to Australian release.

This is an example of a very well made FAKE copy found on eBay.

How can I tell an authentic release from a well made fake copy?
It is rather simple and easy to tell.

This is the authentic video body.
An authentic case is not all in black but in black and brown. And the brown part reads, "Insert this side into recorder. Do not touch the tape inside"

This particular video body has a hologram sticker on it, but never mind about the sticker. It only tells you that it has been authorized for a rental use.

Here's another tip. The catalog number of this release is PIVS-1033. And there is also the same catalog number printed on the flap of video body.
